Integrated Gender-Based Violence Recovery Centers (IGBVR) in Kenya
Blooming World International is launching the Integrated Gender-Based Violence Recovery Centers (IGBVR) across Kitui, Kilifi, Nairobi Kisii, Machakos, and Kisumu. This project aims to provide comprehensive, integrated services for survivors of sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV), with a strong emphasis on supporting vulnerable populations, particularly children.
Project Description
Modeled after the successful initiative at the Coast General Teaching and Referral Hospital, the IGBVR Centers will offer a holistic approach to SGBV response and recovery. Our integrated model includes:
- Clinical Response Services: On-site medical care for survivors, ensuring immediate and compassionate healthcare.
- Psychosocial Support and Counseling: Focused mental health support, particularly child therapy, recognizing that over 80% of survivors are children under 18 years old.
- Legal Support System: Collaboration with community paralegals to provide legal assistance, connect survivors to police gender desks, and support case follow-up in court.
Impact Goals
By implementing the IGBVR Centers in these key regions, Blooming World International aims to:
- Improve access to essential healthcare and psychosocial support for SGBV survivors.
- Establish a robust legal framework to protect the rights of survivors and facilitate justice.
- Provide specialized support for child survivors, ensuring their psychological well-being and recovery.
