Developing technologies to extract energy from solar and wind more cheaply and effectively, making smart use of the scarce space available in the region, is critical to unlocking Africa’s clean energy future. Africa is blessed with abundant sunlight and wind resources, yet vast populations remain without access to reliable electricity. Our work focuses on harnessing this potential by supporting the Research, design, development, and deployment of innovative renewable energy technologies that are both affordable and adaptable to local needs.
We prioritize scalable, decentralized energy systems such as solar mini-grids, solar home systems, and hybrid wind-solar installations that can reach communities far beyond the national grid. These systems are not only clean but …
Developing technologies for recycling plastics and processes for the sustainable design of materials is central to our circular economy agenda in Africa. Across the continent, rapid urbanization and rising consumption are increasing the volume of waste—particularly plastic—putting pressure on already strained waste management systems. We work to turn this challenge into an opportunity by supporting innovations that transform waste into valuable resources, creating new green jobs and reducing environmental harm.
Our work supports the development of integrated policies that align environmental goals with economic and social realities. We advocate for a future where governments provide clear direction, businesses innovate with accountability, and citizens are not only informed but involved. From boardrooms to grassroots, we foster collaboration and shared responsibility for shaping a sustainable society—one where climate-smart choices are part of everyday life.
Looking ahead to 2050, we envision a world where sustainable living is the norm, not the exception. A world where cities are resilient, energy systems are clean and inclusive, and economic growth goes hand-in-hand with environmental stewardship. Achieving this vision means transforming systems—together.
