COMMUNICATIONS OFFICER

Position Summary

Blooming World International is seeking to recruit a Communications Officer to support the organization’s communications, visibility, and stakeholder engagement efforts. The Communications Officer will play a key role in strengthening BLWI’s brand, documenting program impact, and ensuring consistent, ethical, and compelling communication across digital and traditional platforms.

The ideal candidate will be creative, well-organized, results-oriented, and passionate about development and social impact. This role offers an opportunity to contribute to mission-driven work while gaining hands-on experience in NGO communications.

Duties and Responsibilities

Digital Communications

• Support the development and implementation of BLWI’s digital and social media communication strategy
• Manage and update BLWI’s social media platforms in coordination with the supervisor
• Create engaging and audience-appropriate digital content for social media and online campaigns
• Draft and edit website content and support regular updates to BLWI’s website
• Ensure all digital content adheres to BLWI’s branding, tone, and editorial guidelines
• Monitor basic digital analytics and engagement metrics and contribute to performance summaries

Content Development and Storytelling

• Draft, edit, and package communication materials including blogs, articles, newsletters, success stories, case studies, and human-interest stories
• Support the documentation of program activities and community impact in line with ethical storytelling standards
• Contribute to the development of communication products such as brochures, briefs, and reports
• Coordinate with designers or external service providers to support the production of communication assets where required

Internal Communications

• Support internal communication initiatives, including staff and volunteer updates
• Assist in compiling internal newsletters, announcements, and organizational updates
• Contribute to content planning around organizational milestones and key calendar days

Media and Public Relations

• Support media engagement by assisting with the drafting of press releases and media briefs
• Help respond to media inquiries and connect journalists with relevant organizational representatives
• Support the maintenance of a media contact database
• Monitor media coverage and assist in preparing summary reports

Additional Responsibilities

• Support the development and implementation of organizational communication strategies
• Assist with stakeholder engagement and external audience mapping
• Support the coordination of events, campaigns, and public engagement activities
• Represent Blooming World International in external engagements when required and appropriate

Qualifications, Skills, and Experience

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Development Studies, or a related field
• Demonstrated experience or strong interest in communications within an NGO, development, or social impact context

Required Skills and Experience

• Strong writing, editing, and verbal communication skills with high attention to detail
• Experience with digital communications, social media platforms, and audience engagement
• Familiarity with website content management systems and basic analytics tools
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multicultural environment

Desirable Skills

• Experience in graphic design, photography, video, or multimedia storytelling
• Familiarity with donor-funded project communications and visibility requirements
